Placenta Encapsulation is the process of ingesting the placenta after it has been steamed, dehydrated, ground, and placed into capsules. It can provide various benefits to a woman during the postpartum period, and beyond.

What is the cost of having my placenta encapsulated?

I charge $300 per placenta for encapsulation. I accept cash, checks or Venmo payments.

Do you encapsulate placentas for women who are not your birth doula clients?

Yes, I offer placenta encapsulation as a stand-alone service, or as an add-on to a birth doula package.

How do I get my placenta to you if I am giving birth in a hospital?

It is important to communicate your wishes of keeping your placenta to your care team and to double check your hospital's policy. It is recommended to bring a cooler or cooling bag with you to the hospital to fill with ice and keep the placenta in until I can arrive to pick it up.

How do I get placenta to you if I am giving birth at home?

It is important to communicate your wishes of keeping your placenta to your care team. Your placenta can be placed in doubled up ziplock bags or a disposable container and placed in the refrigerator until I can arrive to pick it up.

How soon will you pick up my placenta and when will the capsules be returned to me?

I will pick up your placenta within 24 hours of you notifying me that your baby was born, and the capsules will be returned to you within 72 hours, unless extenuating circumstances arise.

Can you encapsulate my placenta if I am giving birth outside of Fargo-Moorhead or Grand Forks?

I charge $0.50 per mile outside of Fargo-Moorhead or Grand Forks to pick up your placenta and drop off your capsules. Another option would be to make an arrangement to have someone meet me in Fargo-Moorhead or Grand Forks with the placenta and to pick up the capsules if you would like to avoid a mileage fee.

Will you provide me with guidelines on how to take the capsules?

Yes, I provide general guidelines and contraindications for taking the capsules. If you have concerns regarding consuming your placenta after encapsulation please talk to your medical provider.

How many capsules will I get from my placenta?

The number of capsules will be dependent on the size and condition of the placenta. Generally speaking, there may be anywhere from 60-190 capsules.
